The mud that is rich in Mexico originated because of the great volcanic activity that took place during the Azoic period. The states of the republic where there are major deposits of mud are those that are located at the height of the transverse Neo-Volcanic axis, such as Puebla, Guerrero, Hidalgo, Veracruz, Tlaxcala, Oaxaca, Zacatecas, Durango and Chiapas.

The earth is an element present in the history of cultures and pottery is one of the oldest trades of humanity. For millennia, potters have transformed clay into utilitarian, decorative and ceremonial objects. For many cultures, it has been part of its root and form of expression. All the great civilizations left vestiges of their existence through vases, figures and other objects whose main raw material is mud. Mexico is not the exception, fortunately there are still many communities that conserve and continue to work clay and local material in a traditional, ceremonial and contemporary way.

Caolín is a pure, white clay used mainly in ceramic work. In all the states of Mexico there are craftsmen who create detailed pieces, and their technique is inherited through the generations that drive this tradition to create amazing pottery.
